Wedding Table Setting

The Grange (est. 1823) sits on the lush Macquarie Plains, amongst clear country air and fresh mountain water from the majestic Blue Mountains.

The Grange story goes back nearly 200 years. Famous characters, hard work, and Aussie ingenuity are built into its walls, work sheds, and historic graveyard. It’s one of the few privately owned colonial homes listed by the NSW Office of State Heritage. We’ve been proud owners of this heritage listed property since 1972, and are the third family to own it since it was built in 1823.

The distillery building embodies a sense of old and new. The early colonial design is considered a fine example of Georgian architecture while the relic farm shed attached, now converted into a tasting room, gives off the rustic impression of the farm’s heritage origins.

The historic estate has been visited by many famous characters over the years, including Charles Darwin and artist Brett Whiteley.

The Farmhouse dating from 1830 was built by the convicts who had traveled over the Blue Mountains around 1815, shortly after Governor Macquarie.

The building itself has aesthetic significance for its wrap-around verandah, which has been claimed to be the earliest surviving example of its kind in Australia, and for its well-proportioned and symmetrical Georgian facade.

The Grange also has significance for its potential to provide insights into early colonial life and conditions for convicts, some of whom were known to have been assigned to the farm.

There is limited accommodation available on site for the bridal couple but ample space for glamping by the lake.
